Our Motivation

Blankets for Brisbane is an initiative we started a little over a year ago to support the amazing work of the St Vincent de Paul Society in making life more liveable for those who find themselves homeless.

Our company wash in excess of 50 tonne of laundry and dry clean 5000 garments each and every week. You could say we understand firsthand the demand for fresh clean clothes and bedding. These simple necessities so critical to our state of wellbeing however, are what many of Brisbane’s homeless go without, so we decided to do something about it.

In June 2015 we launched our Blankets for Brisbane campaign. It is charitable drive whereby we encourage our customers and the people of greater Brisbane to donate their old blankets which we then clean and hand over to St Vincent de Paul. Since we started we have collected and washed in excess of 3000 blankets which have helped those sleeping rough on the streets to be just that little bit more comfortable and warm.

 You can help by simply…

Donating a blanket at any Plus Dry Cleaners store in Brisbane,

Support Blankets for Brisbane’s Cam Van Balen in the CEO Sleepout, or supporting St Vincent de Paul directly by donating online.

Please like our Facebook page and help us spread the word.

Thank you. Your warmth will truly help this winter.

PROUDLY SUPPORTING ST VINCENT DE PAUL

St Vincent de Paul is dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage by providing direct practical assistance to anyone in need.

On any given night in Australia more than 105,000 people are homeless. This figure is estimated to be around 5,000 within Brisbane itself.

And this is where we come in with our charitable blanket drive. Through our support of St Vinnies invaluable work we are determined to ensure Brisbane’s homeless are not left out in the cold. With your continued support we can continue to bring some warmth to the lives of those less fortunate.

Hi,

I took some shirts to you on 18/08/2018. On 20/08 when picking up I noticed one shirt was missing (white Polo Ralph Lauren).

I was told that it could take a while for you to find the shirt, because it could have been sent to another customer.

It’s almost 2 months since then. Should we consider this shirt as lost?

Thanks,

Alex

G'day Cam
We are wondering if your organisation "Blankets for Brisbane" is still looking for blankets ? Our son Bobby is planning to actively promote the cause and collect blankets.

Steve

Hey Cam
Bobby has collected about 25 blankets !
Where can we drop them today ?
Stephen

Mate, that's fantastic!
Please feel free to drop them into our Toombul store. It's next to Police Beat - which you can easily access from the side entry near the Kedron Brook Causeway. Please be sure to take some photos with Bobby.
